Renting vs Buying: Which is right for you?
It’s smart to weight both options. Buying a golf cart will make sense in the long term – you get unlimited accessory choices to install, full control over how you use and customize the cart, and financing options to spread out the cost. But when you’re not sure what the future holds, renting a golf cart can be the cost-effective choice. Renting offers flexibility - only pay for the time you need it, with zero worries about maintenance, repairs, or winter storage.
Whichever route you decide to take, the Masters team has got you covered!
Real-Life Examples of Golf Cart Rentals
So, after reading all about golf cart rentals, if you’re still asking yourself, “But where is a golf cart useful?”, here’s some interesting examples of how we’ve seen our golf cart rentals being used:
Two 6 passenger rentals went out to a wedding, one black and one white, to help transport guests from the parking lot to the venue
4 facing forward golf carts decorated for VIP’s to be transported around a corporate outing
4 passenger golf carts being used for security purposes at large festivals with over 10,000 people!
These are just a few different ways that the Masters Team has seen our golf carts being used. These rentals occur from anywhere east of Tweed to west of Burlington and north of Sudbury! Golf carts can be useful almost anywhere in Ontario.
How to Choose the Right Golf Cart for Your Needs
When deciding on renting a golf cart, consider these questions:
How many people would you be transporting?
Are you driving on flat or bumpy ground?
What features matter most? Cup holders? Storage? Lights?
Do you need it to be street legal? If so, you might require seatbelts, turning signals, and a slow-moving vehicle sign.
When in doubt, give Masters a call and we can help you determine what is best for your needs.
Frequently Asked Questions About Golf Cart Rentals
Here are some common questions we hear everyone ask about renting golf carts:
Q1. What is the minimum age to rent or drive a golf cart?
We require a valid driver’s licence for anyone who rents or drives the cart.
Q2. Do I need proof of insurance, and is insurance included or required?
Insurance is not required and not included with the rental. When you rent, you’ll sign our Rental Agreement stating that you (the renter) are liable for any damage to the vehicle or injuries to persons.
Q3. Can additional drivers or family members drive it?
Yes - Additional drivers may drive the golf cart as long as they have permission from the renter as well as a valid drivers license to be able to drive a vehicle.
Q4. Can children or pets ride along?
Children and pets are welcome but always check local municipal rules (some require seat belts and forward-facing seats for kids). You’re responsible for any major scratches or dents caused by animals or children.
Q5. How much does it cost, and what are the rates?
The rates are defined by the powertrain, type, and seating capacity requested. Renting could be anywhere from $250 per weekend (pricing is for a 2-passenger gas or electric golf cart) to $850 per weekend (pricing is for an accessibility golf cart for one weekend). Please contact Masters Golf Carts to get a proper quote done for a rental.
*Pricing does not include delivery fees or taxes
Q6. What is the minimum rental period?
We offer four flexible timelines: one weekend, one week, one month, or seasonal.
Q7. Is there a security deposit, and what are the cancellation, late-return, or cleaning fees?
No security deposit is required. We only charge cancellation fees for non-emergency cancellations. There are no standard cleaning fees, but returning the cart late or missing a scheduled pickup adds an extra day to the rental.
Q8. What happens if I need to cancel?
Call us as soon as possible so we can adjust delivery. Same-day cancellations without an emergency (natural disasters, severe weather, or complete event cancellation) will incur a fee.
Q9. Are there any extra fees for delivery, pickup, or accessories?
Yes—delivery and pickup fees depend on location and distance, as well for any accessories that do not come naturally on our golf carts.
Q10. What types of golf carts do you offer?
We offer gas, electric, and lithium vehicles in 2-8 passenger golf carts. Types include personal, utility, speciality, and transportation vehicles.
Q11. What’s the difference between electric and gas-powered carts?
Electric golf carts are known to be a quieter ride with less worry about having to fill with gas to run. Just plug it in when you’re not using it and it will be good to go within the next couple hours (depends on how much run time was left). Gas golf carts are best for hilly, bumping ground with a longer range with a full tank.
Q12. Is the cart street-legal, and what safety features does it have?
Most golf carts are not street legal until you add accessories on it like seat belts, headlights, taillights, turning signals, horn, slow-moving vehicle sign on the back, etc. Please check your municipality rules and regulations before taking it on public roads.
Q13. How many people can it safely carry?
Each golf cart is rated to carry its (based on seating). If you had two people in the front, we recommend only carrying an additional 200 lbs on the back without upgraded suspension (whether its cargo or people). Club Cars are rated to carry a maximum of 800 lbs.
Q14. How do I charge or maintain the cart?
When it comes to charging an electric golf cart, plug in the golf cart when you’re not using it. Electric golf cart rentals will either come with an electric charger or will have an on-board charger that can be plugged directing into an outlet or extension cord. Avoid letting the battery drop too low as it will require a battery boost and will damage the batteries and impact battery performance.
Q15. Can I drive it on the beach, roads, or specific areas?
Most golf carts will go to a maximum of 29 km/hr and should stay on roads limited to less than 30 km/hr. Highways and sidewalks are restricted. You must check municipal laws for driving on beaches or parks.
Q16. What should I do if it breaks down or I have an issue?
Your first action should be to Masters Golf Carts. We’re here to assist you and want your rental experience as best as we can make it. We can hopefully get it fixed over the phone, but if not, we can send one of our handy technicians to take a look to help you get on with your golf cart ride (service calls depend on location).
Q17. Do you offer delivery and pickup, and how much does it cost?
We do offer delivery and pick up. Fees are depending on the kilometers and time it takes to your drop off/pick up location. Call us for a quote!
Q18. What size trailer do I need if I pick it up myself?
A 4 passenger Club Car is 9 feet long and just under 4 feet wide. You will need a trailer big enough to drive the Club Car onto it and still be able to strap it down safely while transporting. This is the standard golf cart we send out on rentals. If you require sizing of another size golf cart, please contact Masters Golf Carts and we can get sizing for you ahead of time.
Q19. How do I keep the cart safe?
The best way to keep the golf cart safe would be to lock it in a facility that you have the code to (such as a garage or shed). If that is not available to you, the next best option would be to park it in an area that not many of the public can see and take the key from the machine. Do not lose the key otherwise there will be a charge of at least $4.99 for a new one.
Q20. Are there any prohibited uses?
Prohibited uses include driving golf carts while impaired, reckless driving, stunt driving, overloading (do not exceed the maximum capacity of passengers or load bearing weight of the vehicle), adjust or augment settings of the golf cart, drive on roads with posted speed limits higher than allowed (<30 km/hr, especially highways), etc.
Renting a golf cart has so many customization options to fit your needs. Think about the convenience for getting a cart how you want, while saving money in the short-term. We’re always willing to answer questions, listen and address concerns, and see exactly how we can make your rental easier for you. Feel free to reach out to Masters Golf Carts for more information.
